Cost estimate help - buying a small extrusion line

All,

The company I work for buys a lot of flexible films, mainly embossed cast PP, some BOPP and some PET (thin films).

Still, some of the films we buy are only used in relatively small quantities and I would like to get an idea of whether there are some potential savings if we would have our own cast extrusion line. The line should be reliable, but small so it could easily be used to run different colors for cast film extrusion.

Does anyone know how much a simple production line would cost for producing e.g. 25000m² per run (1 run = 1 color) including maintenance etc.

What are the things I need to take into account if I want to make a fair comparison between investing in a line or not?

Buy used. You might not get all the bells and whistles but it'll be a good start.

Also, you have to consider the fact you cannot plop people down on this line and expect them to "know" everything. You are going to need to invest in training. Or hire experienced workers.
