It seems recent, but exacxtly what year did Scientific Molding get introduced? I remember in the 80s setting up RJG Decoupled molding steps on startups, but isnt it the same thing?

Early 70's .... maybe late 60's in one form or another.

The Theory has been around a long time but when did Mr. Bozellis coined phrase Scientific actually start? I didnt start hearing the phrase til early 90s? Youve been molding a long time, and is this truley the Holy Grail of Molding.

That's no fair, you changed the question. First you asked when did it start, then you asked when did John first use the phrase.

I think we need to ask John that question as his web site offers no clear answer.

No offense taken, thus the smiley

If my brain is remembering right, I heard Decoupled prior to Scientific. Perhaps Mr. Bozelli decided to use the word Scientific as it conveyed a more structured method.

Molders have been trying to put more science in the art of molding for many years - at some point, it might happen. Install tool. Pour in material "A" with properties A, B, and C. Adjust settings to match run sheet. Push start button. Make sure robots are functioning. Set timer. Turn out lights and go home. We wish

I think all the rules of SM go out of the window here! Typically I have always just looked for a good cell structure. I guess one could only still look for cavity balances, pressure drops and do a cooling study.
