Mold Build and Mold Run in China

Postby Paul E on Sat Jan 16, 2010 3:49 am

Hello,

I plan to order a mold in China and running it in China.
Does anyone know what's the typical arrangement?

1) Before ordering a mold do they normally include spare parts into
the price.(eg if an ejector pin breaks in just a few runs, will they replace
it for free?)

2) Do they give you the drawings or 3d CAD model?

3) Do they normally charge you for storage fee when not running it
temporarily?

4) Do they normally guarantee that they meet certain specs such as
warpage and fix the problem at their cost?

5) Any other fees they normally charge you?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

There are other alternatives to China. Portugal has good tooling and production facilities with high level of technology and expertise. Very good quality/cost ratio.

You can check out their associaton here: http://www.cefamol.pt/cefamol/en/

Depending on your application, I can recommend a suitable company.

Hello Paul,
Noted your inquers by accident. hopeful , my answers will be useful for you.

1) Before ordering a mold do they normally include spare parts into
the price.(eg if an ejector pin breaks in just a few runs, will they replace
it for free?)
Answer: as usual, some suppliers will provide round ejector pin(less than 3mm)/flate thimble/water proof circle and so on.

2) Do they give you the drawings or 3d CAD model?
Answer: you(as buyer) should provide the 3D or 2D drawings of your plastic parts for the vendor's pricing. The vendor will design the 3D drawing for your mold, analyze struction of the molds to insure the mold is economic and reasonable.

3) Do they normally charge you for storage fee when not running it
temporarily?
Answer: no storage fee needed. there are two types:first, if the buyer only need the mold, in this case, once the mold has been finished and accepted, the vendor will delivery the mold to the buyer as the price term(FOB, CIF OR EXW); second, the buyer only want to plastic part and would like the vendor process the parts for you, in this case, the vendor responsible for keeping your mold without charge in spare time(at least, our company have never charged buyers for storage fee).

4) Do they normally guarantee that they meet certain specs such as
warpage and fix the problem at their cost?
Aswer: mold or plastic injection molded parts have been processed rigid according to the drawings, there is no need to wrong about this. But, I think, the prerequisite is that you should find a high efficient and reliable partner.

5) Any other fees they normally charge you?
Aswer: as usual, there is no extra fees, all the fees have been included in quote sheet already.

If you want to further information , please contact with me:Ivy.Ran@hotmail.com or Ivy.Yien@gmail.com. Our company is an expert of manufacturing plastic mold, all of our mold have been exported to USA Eur Au and so on. Hope we can being your suitable partner in further business.

if you selected a company can supply both in tooling building and molding, I think your concerning is not necessary, they will provide you the finalized 3D/2D for your document, as well as the free replacement of ejector pin in guarantee life to smooth the production.
