Polyethylene mix or compound

Postby Carlos Perez on Tue Aug 07, 2012 10:18 am

HDPE and LDPE cannot be mixed, even when they both belong the same chemical family. morphology of molecular chains are different for this two polymers.
¿Any one here has ever try to mix or blend or compound HDPE and LDPE?

Some say they can make a final part mixing this materials, but the part breaks easy when bending.

Kind regards.

Louis.

First of all thanks so much for your kind reply. The third link offers very good information on this PE blends, perhaps HDPE could be better integrated to LDPE using some LLDPE as some kind of "compatibilizer" since it´s morphology are between one and other.
