Hello,
I am working on a high energy physics experiment where we are designing and hope to make a detector out of extruded rigid PVC. The dimension of each extrusion is 15.7 m x 1.3m x .066m, with 32 interior cells to be filled with liquid scintillator.
We first glue 12 extrusions together, side by side so that we obtain a plane of dimensions 15.7m x15.7 m x.066m.
Next, we then start gluing these planes together to stand in the vertical direction [sort of like stacking dominioes, but square rather than rectangles]...but we start with the plane in the horizontal and raise to the vertical, glueing to the previous plane which is now in the stack.
I am looking for a PVC adhesive [cement or epoxy] with a long pot life [or a FAST dispensing machine of which I need advice too :) ], and short cure time [no heat cures, please] and low viscosity since we will place the adhesive on the plane in the horizontal and then raise the plan to the vertical.
Alignment of each plane to the previous plane is crucial as we stack, so the ability to shift the plane a bit before adhesion is expected to be necessary.
Any advice and commentary is greatly appreciate and helpful, as this is not my area of expertise.
Thank you
Deborah Koolbeck
