Resin pricing worries....

Postby younkersnake on Fri May 04, 2007 4:45 pm

Considering I just spent $85 to fill up my vehicle again.... I am sure there are a lot of Polyolefin users not sleeping at night thinking about the next resin price increases.
I will apologize for my limitations of knowledge again but here we go.... I know PVC production/ cost is directly tied to Natural Gas. What I have been recently been learning about is refining cokers and the 'cracking' hydrocarbons.
Since the last time we all had to eat it at the pump and on resin was blamed on crude price sky-rocketing. Now this time we are eating it at the pump and it is being blamed on limited refining capacity (which I agree with).....
Anyone else feel that even though we haven't seen any resin price Decreases, that we are about to hit a whole bunch of new increases (specifically on PE and PP)?

Friday's Plastics News materials update showed increases for some resins.
(From my earlier post in this forum)

The US prices are given by Plastics News. However note that the real price may be different from the published price. "Any resemblance of the published price to the actual price is purely coincidental"

See this site to register for a "free" materials price e-mail

Plastics News does give the price of TPEs

Also monthly Plastics Technology publishes resin prices see
