Text on Clear PC

Postby sulkair on Mon May 28, 2012 6:53 pm

If you were going to put your website address for example on a piece of Clear PC. Would you emboss or deboss the text? For better view-ability that is. Currently I have it embossed to 0.25mm and the letters are about 2mm in length. Hasn't been molded yet, only in SolidWorks.

For easer of mold manufacture I would deboss and texture it so it has a little contrast.

Be careful as you have to add draft to the lettering to allow it to release from the mold. Also sharp edges can cause shear (friction) induced heating. This leads to defects or part failures. Rick.

emboss on the part,
deboss on the mold, you can EDM or polish the surface, and then laser etching or texture the text.
