Need Info! Computerized mold-protect imaging systems...

Postby Brian Richard on Fri Nov 21, 2003 12:53 pm

Who makes those computer-controled mold imaging systems that check for stuck parts? I've seen them around just can't remember who makes them.

I don't need one but a friend is doing a computer imaging project. I told him about this technology and now we need info.

Avalon made ours. There are a few systems out there though.

Milacron I think has an agreement with Avalon you might try your Milacron rep. They run about $40k for the type we have.

Thanks Aahz. I don't need one, that's too much for our shop at the moment.

Friend of mine is doing a project for collage. The goal is to design/build/adapt a computer imaging system that looks down on a class room and generates an attendance report based on which seats are filled.

All the seats are the same color, and everyone sits at thier assigned seat. The teacher pushes a button and the computer/camara snaps a picture and generates a report.

At least that's what he's striving for. :D

Sounds like a good labview application. If the seats are assigned, it should be easy.......

Gee, I'll bet the students in the class room would like to be on "reality TV" everyday!

As far as I know this is some type of class project that they are all working on.

Frankly I hope they get it working. Maybe they can improve existing image rec systems by doing this.

There's a home automation web site that uses standard web cams to identify the owners cat as he approaches the pet door. If not a cat then the door won't open.

I don't recall the site or many more details but it sounds similiar.

Home automation stuff has a lot of folks dabbling with this sort of thing.
