Do not know what you mean by your wording. Products are evaluated as to whether they perform the function intended. Plastics are evaluated whether they have been properly selected for their application or they are evaluated to see if they have been properly processed or degraded by the processing. Maybe we have a language problem.

As noted in the preceeding post

Do you mean "How to select the plastic to use in making the part" or "How the plastic part is evaluated once made".

Selection of a plastic for use in making a product depends on the properties the product needs to have inorder to work. From heat or abrasion resistance, flamibility, solvent resistance, light stability, to strength and impact resistance. Also single use product or long use lifetime. And of cource PRICE :!: (cost per cubic unit)

Testing of the plastic product is usualy done by specifications and standards.

Hard copy books can be found in the Bookstore at http://www.4spe.org

There are (or were) e-courses available on Selection of Plastics for products.
There is a materials data base link on this site on the home page.
