Which specific grade of nylon are you interested in ?

There are many "high heat resistant nylons". Nylon 46 from DSM, Polyphthalamides (Amodel) from BP-Amoco, HTN (High Temperature Nylon) from DuPont.

Bruce is correct in that PTFE is used on non stick pots and pans. (Teflon is a registerd TM for Dupont's PTFE)

That aside polyamids are used for some of the kitchen spatulas and spoons meant to use with non-stick cookware.

More correctly, TEFLON is a trademark for the duPont line of Fluoropolymers, both melt processable grades such as FEP and PTFE - to name but two.
