Global Warming???

Postby Skip on Mon Jul 30, 2007 6:37 pm

In another (mostly environmentally whacko) forum, alot of posts appeared, bloviating about dire global warming threats, and what a wonderful movie Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" was, prompted my response below-----

GLOBAL WARMING???

At the risk of saying "the emperor is wearing no clothes", I humbly submit that this whole issue of "global warming" ----especially aggrevated by us humans, especially in the industrialized world, and most especially in the western democracies---is a bogus issue devoid of true scientific, peer reviewed science evidence. For reference I cite "The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming and Environmentalism" by Christopher C. Horner, Regnery Publishing Inc. 2007, ISBN 978-1-59698-501-8. Some salient obsevations from this scource:

The estimated man-made contributions to Greenhouse gases: CO2-3%,Nitrous Oxide-5%, Methane-10%., the remainder being produced naturally. Fluctuations in average temperatures are more affected by activity on the sun than "greenhouse gas" presence. In addition, it wasn't more than 30 years ago that "scientists" and political pundits of the time were trumpeting dire warnings of a severe global cooling!! Historically, a medieval warm period occured from AD 1100 to 1400, a "little ice age" from 1400 to 1900, and flucuations from 1900 to present day (very warm 1930's and '40's, cooler 50's , 60's, 70's, (with the dire cooling warnings!) and warming since. All of this is affected mainly by the sun. While certainly needing to be caring of our environment, we humans are but a drop in the bucket in terms of overall environmental impact!

The political fallout from Al Gore's " Inconvenient Truth" that is beginning to occur, in terms of eventual government legislation and further control of our lives will be questioned and resisted by this small sector of mankind!!! Anyhow, that's my opinion, and you're welcome to it! Cheers, Skip

Skip,

The climate models are flawed. The earth is warming, but the cause is debatable. we're see the creation of a new religion, however. A new age Gya.

Some of these misguided religious fanatics are demanding that you and me change our life style to placate their earth god by lowering or carbon footprint and/or bowing down to the mighty lord of reduce greenhouse gas emissions!

We can't even predict the actual course of a tropical storm. now tell me how we can forecast the climate trends 10, 50, or 100 years into the future? Inconvenient truth, my arse!

Don't get me started, did you know that some experts now say that if we were to stop all greenhouse gas emissions, it too late to reverse the global warming trend! Yikes!

As Steely Dan said, "See the glory of, of the royal scam."

Not to start a big debate but, isn't it possible (probable IMHO), that the warming trend is cyclicle? I mean, the earth went from temporate to the Ice Age to temporate now on to warming.

Bill,
Exactly---not only possible, but actual! Re-read my post concerning the warming/cooling cycles that take centuries!

Len,
They're saying the cause is man-made! With 3-5% contribution to CO2 & NO! This book I cite is a real eye opener!

I think that man caused the shift of the magnetic north and south poles that occurred some time ago. We were here, so it is clearly our fault.

When will man learn that he (she or us) are just a temporary life form on an ever changing planet that is slowly changing as the sun around which we revolve dies.

It's all temporary - and on a much grander scale than we can control.

Well, that sure punctured my over-inflated ego and sense of self importance!!!

Still, they'll keep trying to "put the toothpaste back into the tube" and strive to emasculate our civilization------or at the very least attempt to exert more and more control over our daily lives!!

Sorry

But $%&# happens, and will keep on happening in spite of what Al G. says. I'm sure those that worry about the survival of the species are hard at work trying to figure out a way to get to and live on another planet, moon or whatever.

I'm sure glad that I won't be around when the decision is made as to who goes and who stays; that will be worse than the last days of the Vietnam War.

For those that are interested in being more informed on this contentious issue, I found the following web sites full of very interesting tidbits!!

These might help separate the facts from the fictions!!

I found a couple more web sites that describe some more scepticism on this issue----there is certainly no consensus, but I fear the polititians are already gearing up to attack our wallets with carbon taxes, etc. And like lemmings, or "sheeple", sadly we'll go along without a whimper!!
