Magnetic Plastic Injection

Postby goodwayplastic on Wed Jun 25, 2008 3:55 am

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there is a specific material or substance that can be added into the injection process to allow the created plastic part to achieve some sort of magnetic strength. Also, I wanted to ask if the required process is the same as the process for plastic tooling.

Thanks!

I'm not sure that it can be done with all resins, but I believe there are companies that specialize in making the resin or additives. Eriez is one that makes an additive. As far as I recall, the process is much the same as molding neat plastics.

A search for magnetic plastics additives might yield good results.

You might also look to http://www.freepatentsonline.com/ for a search.
