PVC pipe associations you can contact:

PPFA (Plastic Pipe & Fittings Assoc.)
Unibell Association
PPI (Plastics Pipe Institute, Div. of SPI)
(all have web sites)

Also, with your search engine, access key words (PVC Pipe,
Rigid PVC Extrusion, PVC Pipe compounds/formulations,
PVC Pipe Properties, etc.,etc.,etc.) and see what surfaces!

PVC Pipe

Postby Skip on Tue Nov 27, 2001 5:43 pm

Hey Zman---

That's my old company!---In the '70's, I was deeply involved in
putting that pipe test facility into place, when it was Cincinnati
Milacron Chemicals. We also developed the concept of "range formulations",
where we obtained PPI/NSF approvals on compounds covering a range
of min. to max. levels of lubs and stabilizers. Also developed methyl tin
reverese ester and "one pack" stabilizer systems for pipe. Those were fun days!:D
The occasional whifs of HCl kept my sinuses clear!!:D

I do produce PVC/AMSAN Blend pipes for hot fluid transmission. I am not get the good mechanical properties. Can you suggest some good impact modifiers and processing aid.

Does any antioxidants detoriate the mechanical properties ? How to over come the same to compensate it. I find a good flow with addition of antioxidant.

Skip,

I can't tell if this guy is even using a stabilizer, let alone if he's trying to use the SAN as a process aid/impactmodifier? Antioxidant is that a code name for stabilizer? It's difficult to give advise since I'm not sure what he's doing. I long time ago we used PVC/SAN as part of an alloy for electrical applications. I believe it was lead stabilized.
