Finally Back to Work

Working out pretty well. I've already taken steps to automate one area which seems to cause most of our holdups. If it works out the way I think it will, the cost should be under $50k and eliminate 4 people (I'll move them to other areas).

I manage 3 departments (115 direct reports) with a forth and fifth coming in a few months (this will add another 60 direct reports). The current VP/Plant Manager is going to retire late this year or early next year so the Asst. Plant Manager will move into his position and I will move into the Asst PM position.

As I said earlier, it's not in plastics but I see where we could put in a machine to mold a few components that we currently purchase.

BTW, we are looking for a Warehouse Supervisor if you know anyone. Currently they are looking for someone local but that may change in the near future.

Another Update:

I have over 150 people reporting to me in 2 departments. They are working 11-1/2 hours a day, 6 days a week and we're, (27 volunteers), in here today (Easter Sunday) for at least 8 hours.

The orders just won't stop coming in!!!!

Although the hours are long, this will end in May, I think I'm finally in a company that I can retire from. No "corporate politics", relaxed atmosphere and still growing.

I know, but the good thing is, this company has grown 10-15% per year over the last 3 years and at the pace we're going right now they're looking at 20-22% growth.

Believe it or not, I'm working for the company that makes over 85% of the cushions for outdoor patio furniture. No molding, I manage the sewing department with 101 employees (includes 13 that turn the shells right side out after sewing), and the cutting department with 46 employees. If you buy it in WalMart, Kmart, Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, Meijers, JCPenny, etc., there's batter than a 90% chance we made it. 70% of the entire product line is made complete in the US and we import about 30% of the shells and finish them in one of our 5 plants across the US.

Thanks Oldtool, I was really starting to get into Dr. Phil because I couldn't find the Green Acres reruns! BTW, did you get ing touch with the second recruiter I forwarded your info to?
