Home protection via "The Judge"

Postby Skip on Sat Apr 24, 2010 12:09 pm

Hi all----

Wanted to share with you my "new toy"-----for home protection, the Taurus Judge. It's a double action revolver chambered for either/or 45 Colt and 410 shotgun---5 rounds. It's a highly recommended compact home defense firearm. I put laser sight grips on it, so the red dot on the target is where the round will end up!
With my lousy eyesight, I put about a 4" group of rounds into a target 22 feet or 7 meters away.

You should point me to where I can get a judge before they make the purchase difficult in PA

Louis, I got mine from a licensed dealer (FFL license) who also belongs to our cowboy shooting club. You'll need to find a licensed dealer in your area. A Google search for Taurus Judge turned up alot of web sites, one of which I listed here----they have FFL licensed dealers selling online.

My laser grips are fromCrimson Trace, LG 375 for the Judge.

Are you sure it is not named: "Judge, Jury, and Executioner"? Not that i have a problem with that.

Skip,

I'll bet that sucker kicks like a mule! I'm more in the market for a short barreled semi-automatic 20 ga shotgun, but that thing looks deadly cool.

Nice weapon Skip........still sticking with my old semi-auto Colt .45.....picked it up in 1976 while I was stationed in Europe in the Air Force. It was carried by a Marine officer and still has the USMC logo on it. Love Colt Arms stuff....guess I'm just old school.....

I kind of favor my Ruger Redhawk. 44 mag. with Aimpoint. It sits next to my Taurus Millinium 9mm and Colt Gold Cup.

Jim, Bill----Those are good weapons! I'm assuming the marine Colt 45 is the classic 1911 model? I prefer the larger 44mag or 45 cal.sizes myself----I just think they have more "knock-down" power than the 38's or 9mm's.
(We have some cowboy shooters-mostly the ladies--that use 32 cal. "pea shooters"-----no balls on the targets!)

The big drawback to my revolver is that it only has 5 rounds compared to the 6-10 rounds of the semi-automatics.
However, if I can't make the 5 rounds count, it's my Bad!

Yeah Skip......the 1911 model; also picked up an M16 model A1 while I was in........it's in mint condition. Saving it until I retire. Should pick up a few bucks for it.......nothing like an M16 for home protection.....yuk,yuk.

My Dad wants one of them, but at 6'-4", it won't be to much of a hand full for him! For me, the 9 mm will do until I get that Springfield XD....in .45 ACP. Of course for the home, the 870 with slug barrel and 00 buckshot keeps the bad people away! If not, then the M14 is next on the list! I just don't want to use a hand gun if I can get them at some distance! Rick.

I don't know about getting them while they are far away. Maybe a small 22 over under in the palm of the hand where they can't see it. I hear at the right angle they just rattle around inside the skull

Seriously, I don't own a gun, but I'm thinking real hard about a purchase.
