Eching, January 2012 - Hekuma, one of the leading manufacturers of high performance automation systems, will exhibit the high-speed version “DS” from the proven “HEKU-Series for the first time at this year’s NPE show in Orlando. For the new development of the “HEKU DS”, Hekuma concentrated on both the design and the innovative drive concept for the removal of small, lightweight, fast running, high volume parts. With an acceleration of up to 30G’s and a speed of up to 10 meters per second, the HEKU DS is likely the fastest robot on the market today. The handling system in a new variant of the Sigma Inside manufacturing cell will be integrated with an injection molding machine from Engel. Finished part will be removed and placed, separated by their specific cavity. Compact, economical and extremely fast.

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. – Nov. 1, 2011 – SABIC’s Innovative Plastics business
today celebrated a major milestone with the official opening of its specialty
polypropylene (PP) compounding operation at its Bay St. Louis, Mississippi
manufacturing site. The new compounding operation will supply SABIC® PP
compounds and SABIC STAMAX* long glass fiber-filled PP (LGFPP) composites
for a wide range of automotive applications. SABIC’s new PP operation answers
fast-accelerating demand from automotive OEMs and tiers for local supply of
globally-consistent PP materials in North America, supporting production of both
regional and global vehicle platforms.

PITTSFIELD, Mass — Sept. 8, 2011 — New solar shading panels made from
lightweight, durable Lexan* Exell* D polycarbonate (PC) sheet from SABIC’s
Innovative Plastics strategic business unit, are making a major contribution to
energy efficiency and comfort at the new flagship City of Westminster College in
central London. The high-performance panels filter out direct sunlight to
minimize solar gain and glare on computer screens. They also admit generous
amounts of natural light and are expected to significantly reduce building
energy requirements, and maintenance and lifespan costs. SABIC’s ongoing
investment in environmentally responsible materials for the global building and
construction industry is helping customers meet their sustainability goals with
new eco-progressive products.

Why bother with linking?It's simple, do you want traffic to your website? Links to your site is one of the single most important factors Google (and the others) use to rank your pages versus competitors. Good links increase your traffic. Strong, good links (like plastics.com or any other highly ranked and trusted plastics site) can have dramatic effects on your traffic..
The more links from other sites to your site causes Google, et al, to rank you more highly. All things being even, if your site has more relevant links to you from industry sites, then google ranks you higher and you get more traffic.... (more)
Syracuse University Library Plastics Collection Expands Online Presence

Syracuse, New York - May 1, 2012 - The Syracuse University Library has launched a redesigned and expanded website devoted to its extensive Plastics Collection. The new site now offers approximately 3,000 objects with high quality photographs, information about plastic materials and processes, and twice the previous number of biographies and company histories. Of particular note, viewers can now submit additional information about objects, people, and companies through the site.

Connecticut - March 9, 2012: A new mid-range controller from Davis-Standard, LLC – the DS-eVUE – offers processors added versatility for nearly every extrusion process. Introduced in January, this controller replaces Davis-Standard’s MESA III product and existing HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems. It is also an option for customers previously requiring the Harrel Tubetrol controller. Davis-Standard will continue to service older controllers subject to availability, but the DS-eVUE will be the standard mid-range option available from this point forward.
