Plastics in the Environment
Allan L. Griff will be giving a short course on Plastics in the Environment for the U of California on the Berkeley campus, five 3-hr evenings starting November 15. Allan will provide the well-known (by now) explanations of why plastics are beneficial to the environment (light weight, sanitary, etc) and try to dispel some of the misunderstandings and plastophobia that this area has become (in)famous for. But Allan will also explore the reasons why people are so ready to accept an antiplastic mindset -- fear of chemicals and big chemical companies, reluctance to accept impartial science, and more that he hopes to elicit from the attendees.
