“Plastics: The Wonderful World of Sustainability and Recycling”
The 2009 Global Plastics Environmental Conference (GPEC® 2009) is coming up quick. As a forum for the diverse discussion of the environmental issues and opportunities in the plastic industry, participation is a must for those involved in the plastics industry.
This upcoming conference will be held at a new venue and features Dr. John Christy, 2007 Nobel laureate and Distinguished Professor of Atmospheric Science and Director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama, as plenary speaker (details on page 3). In addition to this, the Clean Technology Business Forum returns and is sponsored for another year by Battelle.
Join us for GPEC® 2009 on February 25-27, 2009 at DISNEY’S CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT, Walt Disney World®, Florida. This is your chance to learn about new technologies and innovations for plastics sustainability and recycling. Deadline for hotel Advance Registration is January 25, 2009. For hotel reservations call 407-939-1020 and request “SPE GPEC” room rate of $169.
New this year GPEC® 2009 is being held “back-to-back” with the Plastics Recycling 2009 Conference (Tuesday/Wednesday) at the same location. GPEC® 2009 kicks off with the Connections Reception on Wednesday evening with the balance of GPEC® 2009 on Thursday/Friday. The complete schedule of events can be downloaded at our website www.sperecycling.org
In an international context, establishing a foreign subsidiary as a contract manufacturer can have favorable tax benefits for the parent company, allowing them to reduce overall tax liabilities and increase profits, depending upon the activities of the contract manufacturer.
A contract manufacturer that incorporates the plastics industry typically will include injection molding or extrusion of parts along with potentially considerable other steps such as multi-part purchasing and assembly of a finished product or substantial component.
